I was 37 weeks pregnant with my son Kaleb when I thought my water broke. My fiance, Mark, looked down(as I was in the car with him) and noticed it wasn't my water that broke... but a massive amount of blood. I was rushed by ambulance into the Moncton City Hospital where they did an emergency c-section. The baby was born at 4:23pm February 7th/2008 without any vitals. It took the doctors over 30 minutes to get him to have a pulse. He was then moved into the NICU where he was hooked up to many machines and had 2 blood transfusions. They did an EEG and found out he had almost no brain activity at all. He lost to much blood and went without oxygen for way to long, and suffered severe brain damage as a result. He was also having seizures. The doctor on call called us into the family room in the NICU and explained to us that they were doing everything they could, but he was not going to survive through the night. She told us we needed to make a decision to keep him on the machines or take him off. We knew he was going to pass either way, and didn't want to keep him on the machines any longer. We went out and held him for a while and once they placed him in my arms I knew he wasn't there. I held him and kissed him goodbye... it was the hardest thing we ever had to do. He passed away around 12:20 am Friday, the 8th of Feb...

The placenta had detached from the uterine wall and it caused me to hemmorage and him to bleed and go without any oxygen. This was my second pregnancy. I had my first son, Jacob on the 25th of September/2002 with no complications at all. I am curious to find other mothers who have went through this like me... I would like to know who has had a sucessful pregnancy and delivery after loosing a child to placental abruption. What the risks are...ect.. also for support purposes just to talk to other women who have went through this.
